The MISSION of the Center is to conduct pioneering research that responds to pressing public issues by providing evidence used locally and nationally to improve decisions affecting the built environment and access to opportunity.

Our VISION is to be a leading and trusted Center for the production and dissemination of evidence-driven research in the interdisciplinary field of planning

Our CORE VALUES include:

  1. Produce new academic research and knowledge in the planning disciplines of transportation, community health, quality of life, and the physical environment
  2. Engage in ongoing applied research aimed at supporting local government, community based organizations, metropolitan planning organizations, and other planning oriented groups
  3. Build lasting relationships and collaborate with faculty, centers, and community partners across campus and throughout the State of Utah
  4. Provide mentorship and funded research opportunities for graduate students in the College of Architecture + Planning at the University of Utah
  5. Maintain the highest professional and ethical standards in conducting research
